Fabric Sourcing

Here at Guided Makers, every client’s needs are different so we tailor our approach to fabric sourcing to support the client reaching their product goals.

Regardless of your product, brand size and product strategy, we can guide you down the right path.

Domestically, for low minimum needs, clients can consider the use of stockists or ‘jobbers’ (typically of overruns or deadstock) and converters (fabric stockists who hold base, unfinished goods and can process to your needs (dye or print)).  These are great options for fabrics and can support your small batch production project.  Alternatively, if you’re working at scale, the use of larger mills (internationally and domestic) can provide cost effective solutions for your project.

If you prefer to get out into the market yourself to search for fabrics, Guided Makers are able to provide you with resource lists (based on your needs), introductory email templates for connecting with sources and key questions to ask when working with a supplier.  Guided Makers will provide you with the necessary tools for your fabric sourcing tool kit to be successful.

Finding the right fabric is a process that also needs to consider may other factors.  We will work with you to understand your needs including but not limited to sustainability, color, technical performance needs, minimum order quantities, lead times, quality and price.

In addition to sourcing, we are able to teach and mentor on fabric types and how each type can be applied to your product.  What it may mean for the fit (working closely with our technical guide), consumer care and more.

Throughout the year, the team at Guided Makers travel to some of the leading fabric & trade shows.  Keeping abreast of trends, innovation and the best opportunities for our clients products.  Upcoming shows included Texworld,  Premier Vision and Outdoor Retailer.
