What is a Tech Pack?

There are many things needed to develop an apparel product, fabrics, trims, pattern pieces, sizing information, construction details and more.

The tech pack is the critical document where all these details are located. This document provides direction to a factory on your product expectations.  A tech pack should have the following essential pages as a minimum: Bill of Materials (BOM), Construction Details, Graded Measurement Sheet.

Bill of Materials:

The BOM contains all a list of all the components needed to create and deliver your product to the consumer.  These components include: fabrics, trims, labels and materials for shipping.

Construction Details

The construction details provides the instruction on how assemble your product: what type of seams, stitching, hems and much more depending on product complexity.

Graded Measurements

The graded measurement sheet contains points of measurement and garment measurements to ensure the sizing of your product meets your fit and design expectations for all sizes being sold.

These 3 pages contain the most critical details to create your garment.  A tech pack includes much more such as colorway details (specific color information by component) and the development history for your garment and the revisions made to achieve an approved fit sample before proceeding to production.
